Jennifer Anne Shorr
Founder and Publisher of Off the Vine Magazine, Jennifer has worked as a professional chef, wine buyer and restaurant manager, as an owner, she has worked with legendary restaurateur and consultant George Lang in opening “La Tache” - the first freestanding wine bar in Los Angeles. Jennifer also opened a branch of the fondly remembered “Faire la Cuisine” Restaurant and gourmet emporium in 1981. Her passion, taste, experience, and broad range of culinary knowledge, drives this magazine and its “insiders” viewpoint.
Since her first trip to Europe in 1972, Jennifer has traveled the world exploring wine, food, and culture. In 1979, while attending the newly opened California Culinary Academy, Jennifer was able to enrich her learning from culinary luminaries, restaurateurs, and chefs such as Jeremiah Tower, Martin Yan, Victor and Roland Gotti, and Jacky Robert. Weaned on Julia Child and the “Galloping Gourmet”, she has witnessed the food revolution from its beginnings. From old classics like Ernie’s, The Blue Fox, Trader Vic’s and Narsai’s, to the birth of Chez Paniese and Stars, and from Spago and Michael’s, to the French Laundry and The Herbfarm on to Michael Mina and Cyrus, Jennifer travels, tastes and explores, up and down the coast, in a quest to find culinary magic.
