2005 Yates Family Vineyard - Cabernet Sauvignon - Mount Veeder, Napa

Mountain fruit in the Napa Valley presents a markedly different profile when compared to fruit from the Valley floor. There is an intensity, with more herbaceous qualities. This wine gives notes of eucalyptus-fennel, dried field mushroom, boysenberry, and pecan. - JM

price: $48.00
drink: 2009 to 2016

2007 Summerland Pinot Noir - Odyssey-Thurlestone - Edna Valley

Lovely, soft flavors of cherries and sweet raspberry. Notes of rose petal, baking spice, and a bit of earthy underbrush to balance the fruit. Quite complex, approachable and just plain yummy. Should improve in the cellar for the next several years.

price: $45.00
drink: 2009 to 2012

2007 Anaba “Corial” - Sonoma Valley, Ca

A tropical assortment of Jolly Rancher intensity rounded out with butterscotch, tarragon, wet river stones and mint. Smoky butterscotch continues on the palate, which is full, plush, but balanced. A red wine drinker’s white that is great by itself but will work with everything from salad and salmon cakes to roast turkey, stuffing and gravy (is Thanksgiving around the corner?), due to its forceful personality. A blend of 69% Viognier, 15% Rousanne, 10% Marsanne, 6% Grenache Blanc. - J.Michael

price: $28.00
drink: 2009 through 2012

2005 Chimney Rock Cabernet Sauvignon, Stags Leap, Napa, Ca

Rich, mouth filling flavors of dark fruit, black currants, tobacco leaf, crushed violets and cinnamon spice. Firm, with vanilla, cedar and sweet tannins through the finish. Nice supple mouth feel. This wine is a solid Napa Cabernet, true to its Stags Leap terrior. It should soften and improve for two to three more years, and hold for ten.

price: $49.95
drink: 2009 through 2014

2006 Parallel Estate Cabernet Sauvignon - Napa Valley

Rich and extracted, this wine by winemaker Phillipe Melka, offers both power and elegance. Accessible now, it will certainly benefit from a year or two in the cellar. Black fruit and spice layered with currants, milk chocolate, briar and anise. The wine finishes with a touch of oak and fine grained tannins. Aged for 21 months in 100% French oak, it was bottled unfined and unfiltered.

price: $125.00
drink: 2009 through 2016
